The people have spoken, and they want to know about books. Here are my recommendations for healing books to curl up with.

The catagory is...
jealousy and/or ethical non-monogamy.

Wait wait wait. Before the "I'm very much monogamous with no desire to change it", I still recommend this book for all couples and arrangements for its jealousy chapter alone.  The Ethical Slut will challenge your understanding of jealousy and lens of confidence in your relationship(s). This book is a welcome existential questioning of societal shaping and possession.

The category is... shame and vulnerability.

Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead explores "how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity. She writes: “When we shut ourselves off from vulnerability, we distance ourselves from the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives.”

The category is... Eeyore realness.

As if puberty isn't enough of a rollercoaster, Depression: A Teen’s Guide to Survive and Thrive "is a guidebook for teenagers who are depressed or at risk for depression. This guide discusses depression and provides guidance on cognitive—behavioral therapy principles to help teens take a problem-solving, strategy-based approach to deal with depressed moods, thoughts, and behavior. Intended to serve as an adjunct to therapy, this is a very practical and easy-to-read book that is not overwhelming for teens."

The category is... homework.

Ideally, you would work through a workbook with a professional but mental health accessibilty doesn't always work like that. For those that are looking to build or polish their coping skills, The Anxiety Workbook features evidence-based methods where you can reach goals, pivot negative thought patterns, and disempower anxiety at your own pace. Don't let the 7 week structure intimidate you- there is change in the baby steps too.

The final category is... catharsis.

For the workbook at provides something a little different, Let That Sh*t Go explores how "harboring grudges and plotting revenge take a lot of energy. While the wait for one true moment of schadenfreude sounds oh so sweet, true bliss can be found in simply not giving a f*ck. With Let That Sh*t Go, you’ll find moments of profanity-laced catharsis and joy through journaling activities and inspirations that are positive as f*ck. Within these truly charming pages, you’ll find ways to let go of the bullsh*t and lift your spirit a little f*cking higher."
